Designed by experts in online learning, our online high school courses ignite curiosity and expand our students’ understanding of the world and their place in it. Online Middle School Course Benefits
Connections Academy’s online middle school program was built from the ground up over 20 years ago to serve and support online students and has been continually enhanced and optimized based on learner feedback and needs. Each lesson is designed to capture curiosity so that students are motivated to explore their passions and the world around them. Online middle school courses from Connections Academy provide:
- Engaging, accredited curriculum that aligns with state and national standards
- Highly-skilled, certified teachers who are specially trained to teach online

Dedicated Support for Middle School Students
When students can focus and explore new passions, they thrive. At Connections Academy, we put students at the center of every decision we make. Whether it’s their teacher working one-on-one with them or their Learning Coach guiding their progress, students find a renewed love of learning. In fact, online middle school students at Connections Academy begin to work directly with highly qualified subject area teachers for their courses, but they remain under the guidance of a counselor or an advisory teacher for overall support.
Elective Courses and Activities for Middle School Students
Students vary their education with exposure to many different subjects and activities in the middle school curriculum. Students in online middle school programs choose from a wide range of elective courses and become involved in a variety of virtual clubs and activities. They can join clubs that enrich them in whole new ways, like competing in Mathematical Olympiads or writing for the school newspaper.
Additionally, gifted students have access to high school level courses and begin to earn high school credit, subject to their counselor’s approval. Please check with your Connections Academy school to see if this option is available.
Interacting in the Online Classroom
Student interaction and participation in the virtual classroom is critical to success in the overall education process. While most of the instruction supports anytime, anywhere learning, students also participate in a live online classroom environment through the Pearson Online Classroom. The Pearson Online Classroom delivers everything a student needs in one place, from accessing their lessons and assessments to communicating with teachers and tracking progress.
During live instruction, teachers reinforce challenging concepts and motivate students to become active learners—engaging and participating in activities, asking questions, and collaborating with peers through microphone and chat. These interactions foster collaboration and bring the curriculum to life while allowing teachers to build meaningful relationships and gain an understanding of lesson comprehension.
