Description

Grade 1 Social Studies, taught in English, introduces students to foundational concepts related to people, places, communities, countries, symbols and changes over time. Through age-appropriate English vocabulary and instruction, students begin exploring early geography, community life, cultural traditions, national landmarks, historical awareness and important figures from around the world. The course is designed to develop both subject knowledge and the ability to communicate basic Social Studies ideas using simple English vocabulary and sentence structures.

Class Focus

• Exploring countries, cultures, celebrations, flags, landmarks, monuments and important places around the world.

• Learning maps, timelines, sequencing and comparing life in the past and present.

• Understanding community roles, citizenship, government concepts, transportation, goods and services.

• Participating in Social Studies activities such as fill in the blanks, country and flag identification, matching tasks, drawing activities and place order exercises.

• Building confidence through vocabulary definition practice, memorization and describing people, places and events using Social Studies English.

Learning Outcome

By the end of the course, students will be able to identify countries, symbols, landmarks and important places. They will demonstrate understanding of basic map skills, citizenship roles and examples of goods and services. Students will also be able to recognize differences between the past and present, describe important people and express foundational Social Studies understanding through simple English responses.

과목 소개 (Description)

Grade 1 Social Studies는 영어로 진행되며, 사람, 장소, 지역사회, 국가, 상징, 시간의 변화와 같은 기초 개념을 학습합니다. 학생들은 학년 수준에 맞는 영어 어휘와 단계적인 수업을 통해 기초 지리, 지역사회 생활, 문화적 전통, 국가 상징과 랜드마크, 역사에 대한 기초 이해, 세계 여러 인물들을 탐구하기 시작합니다.
이 과목은 사회과 기초 지식을 형성함과 동시에 간단한 영어 어휘와 문장 구조를 사용하여 기초적인 사회과 개념을 표현하는 능력을 기르는 데 목적이 있습니다.

• 세계 여러 나라, 문화, 기념일, 국기, 랜드마크, 기념물, 주요 장소 탐구하기
