Description

Grade 3 Social Studies, taught in English, deepens student’s understanding of geography, government, history, economics, citizenship and world cultures. Through grade appropriate English vocabulary and guided instruction, students explore maps, regions, coordinates, time zones, elections, historical events, national symbols and influential figures who shaped societies. The course is designed to strengthen subject knowledge while helping students analyze, compare and communicate Social Studies concepts using relevant vocabulary and well structured English sentences.

Class Focus

• Developing advanced geography skills through world maps, coordinates, compass roses, directions, regions of the U.S.A. and time zones.

• Learning civics topics such as elections, voting, local government, the three branches of government, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

• Exploring economics concepts including producers and consumers, scarce resources and business creation activities.

• Participating in Social Studies activities such as map analysis, fill in the blanks, matching tasks, drawing activities, road trip planning and creating their own business projects.

• Building confidence through vocabulary definition practice, historical discussions, comparing cultures & regions and explaining people, events and ideas using Social Studies English.

Learning Outcome

By the end of the course, students will be able to apply mapping skills, identify regions, use coordinates and explain time zones. They will demonstrate understanding of government systems, citizenship, elections, economic concepts and the role of scarce resources. Students will also analyze important historical figures and events, compare cultures and communities and explain Social Studies concepts using relevant vocabulary, supporting details and organized English sentences.

과목 소개 (Description)

Grade 3 Social Studies는 영어로 진행되며, 지리, 정부, 역사, 경제, 시민의식, 세계 문화에 대한 이해를 한층 깊게 확장합니다. 학년 수준에 맞는 영어 어휘와 단계적인 안내를 바탕으로 학생들은 지도, 지역 구분, 좌표, 시간대, 선거, 역사적 사건, 국가 상징, 사회를 발전시킨 중요한 인물들에 대해 탐구합니다.
이 과목은 사회과 지식을 강화하고, 이를 바탕으로 사회과 개념을 분석하고 비교하며 관련 어휘와 구조화된 영어 문장으로 설명하는 능력을 기르는 데 목적이 있습니다.

• 지도 분석, 빈칸 채우기, 매칭 활동, 그리기 활동, 로드 트립 계획, 나만의 비즈니스 만들기 등 사회과 활동 참여하기

• 사회과 영어 어휘를 사용하여 역사적 인물과 사건을 설명하고, 문화와 지역을 비교하며, 어휘 정의 연습과 토론 활동을 통해 자신감 기르기
