During online classes, small technical problems can happen- like audio not working, video freezing, or trouble joining a session. These things can happen to anyone, and the good news is that most of them are easy to fix.

This Student Guide for Tech Problems is designed to help you calmly and confidently handle common technical issues on your own. If something goes wrong, don’t panic—just follow the steps in this guide one by one.

Remember this first:

  • Rejoin Zoom
  • Follow your teacher’s instructions
  • Stay calm

Most problems are solved very quickly.

If your screen freezes

  • Rejoin Zoom.
  • Type “F” in chat if still frozen.

If you can’t hear the teacher

  • Leave & rejoin Zoom.
  • Type “No sound” in chat.

If the teacher says “Video OFF”

  • Turn off your camera.
  • This helps the class run smoothly.

If the teacher says “Chat Only”

  • Do not speak.
  • Use the chat to answer.

If your internet is slow

  • Move closer to Wi-Fi.
  • Switch to mobile data if needed.

If the whole class has a problem

Follow teacher instructions:

  • Video off
  • Rejoin Zoom
  • Wait 1 minute
